INTRODUCING AEA'S NEW LEGAL & IR MANAGER; MS. JENNIFER WACHIRA

JENNIFER WACHIRA-Advocate

Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Founding Senior Partner & Legal Counsel.

Jennifer Wachira is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Ms. Jeniffer Wachira is the founder of Wachira Wanjiru & Company Advocates and Wachira Wekhomba Aim & Associate Advocates with offices both in Nakuru and Nairobi.

Ms. Wachira has over 12 years of legal practice in various areas of law, including employment, constitutional, international, conveyancing, and arbitration. She is passionate about advancing the rule of law and promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in Kenya and beyond.

 

She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a registered trainer with the National Industrial Training Authority and a registered Data Controller.

She has successfully handled complex and high-profile cases involving labour disputes, human rights violations, land transactions, and contractual agreements. She has also been involved in conducting legal audits and compliance reviews for various organizations and institutions.

 

She represents Kenya as a member of the Employment Law Committee of the East Africa Law Society which enables her to gain insight in the Employment Law sphere within East and Central Africa.

Ms. Wachira is currently pursuing her Masters in Employment and Industrial Relations which is offered by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation in conjunction with the University of Turin, Italy.

Ms. Wachira joins the Association as the Manager in-charge of Legal Issues and Industrial Relations. She will be handling all Legal issues including providing legal counsel to members, Updating members on changes in the legislation with direct impact on their business. Basically, her department shall be the one stop shop for all legal advice for members.

As the in charge of Industrial Relations, she will be ensuring all workers and consultative meetings with the unions are well coordinated in line with the Recognition Agreement, represent members in conciliations/ trade disputes, managing end to end case work involving disputes between employers and employees and preparing memorandums for both ADR and court settlements among other things.
