The Association successfully held a consultative meeting with the Principal Secretary for Labor, Hon. Shadrack Mwadime, to present the most pressing challenges facing the agricultural sector.
The meeting which was attended by Board Members led by Mr. Tom Ochieng alongside the CEO, Mr. Wesley Siele, articulated the sector’s concerns, highlighting the impact of current regulatory, compliance and labor-related challenges on the sustainability of agribusiness.
Among the issues raised were Excessive taxation and overlapping compliance requirements, increase in levies, Delays in NITA reimbursements, which disrupt training and skills development among others.
The PS Hon. Shadrack Mwadime welcomed the concerns raised and promised to escalate them to the next level for concrete action. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to continuous dialogue with industry players to safeguard both business sustainability and workers’ welfare.
The meeting was successful and provided a strong platform to advocate for reforms that are essential for the stability, growth and competitiveness of the agricultural sector. This engagement also marks a positive step forward in ensuring that the voice of the agricultural sector is heard at the highest policy levels. The Association remains committed to championing members’ interests through dialogue and policy engagement.
