AEA ENTERS INTO STRATEGIC MOU WITH MEDIATION TRAINING INSTITUTE (MTI)

The Agricultural Employers Association (AEA) has today entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mediation Training Institute (MTI) International East Africa, paving the way for specialized mediation training and professional certification for AEA Members.

The MoU establishes a collaborative framework through which MTI will offer accredited training and certification in mediation as an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanism. The signing ceremony took place at the MTI offices in Nairobi, where representatives from both institutions convened. Mr. Apollo Kiarii, CEO of APo Consults Solutions, graced the event as a witness and key partner in this strategic relationship.

Through this partnership, AEA members will now gain access to the Professional Certification in Mediation, a globally recognized program designed to equip participants with the skills to effectively resolve disputes, grievances and workplace conflicts in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Successful participants will be awarded a Professional Certification in Mediation.

The certification program consists of 50 hours of training delivered over five days, with three days conducted physically and two days delivered virtually- a flexible format that accommodates the busy schedules of professionals across the agricultural sector.

As part of the collaboration, AEA members undertaking the Professional Mediation Certification course will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Certification as a professional mediator
  • Mediation mentorship
  • Accreditation by MTI (E.A), IMI and SIMI
  • Membership into the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC)
  • Placement into the MTI East Africa International Mediators Directory
  • Recommendation for accreditation to the Mediation Accreditation Committee (MAC)
  • Award of 2 CPD points for IHRM members

Both parties have agreed to roll out the first cohort of trainings in Q1 of 2026, with specific dates to be communicated in due course.

AEA encourages all members to take advantage of this rare and valuable opportunity to build internal capacity, enhance workplace harmony and become certified professional mediators.
