AEA HOSTS GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 2025 APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME INTERNS

The Association today held a colourful and inspiring graduation ceremony for interns who successfully completed their 2025 Apprenticeship Programme. The initiative, which continues to grow in impact each year, is designed to equip young graduates with practical industry skills, meaningful exposure, and a smooth transition into the labour market.

This year, the programme featured two cohorts: five interns in the January-June group and four in the July-December group. Over the course of their training, the young professionals underwent intensive learning, both in the classroom and on the ground. They were placed in various member farms where they engaged in practical assignments across multiple operational areas. These two cohorts mark the 6th and 7th groups to pass through the programme since its launch, an indication of its continued relevance and success in nurturing the next generation of professionals for the horticulture sector.

The graduation ceremony brought together more than 30 invited guests, reflecting the wide support the programme continues to receive. Among those in attendance were union representative Mr. Issa Wafula, Nakuru County Labour Officer Mr. Timothy Kipruto, IHRM Central Rift Branch Chairman Dr. Joash Omosa, and long-time AEA collaborator and  HR professional Mr. Wycliffe Ndunde, as well as proud parents, guardians and family members of the graduates. Their presence made the event both memorable and encouraging for the young graduates.

Speakers at the ceremony commended the interns for their dedication, commitment, and resilience throughout the programme. They also applauded the Association for sustaining an initiative that not only builds skills but also directly supports employment creation and professional growth within the industry.

As the graduates step confidently into the labour market, the Association reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the apprenticeship programme, expanding opportunities and ensuring young professionals are well-prepared to contribute to the sector’s development.

The day ended on a celebratory note, marking yet another milestone in AEA’s ongoing efforts to build capacity and support the future workforce.
