AEA conducted an Industrial Relations Training for shop stewards held on 24th July 2026 at Brown Plantations -Kericho.
Shop stewards participated in an interactive training session aimed at strengthening their capacity to effectively represent employees and contribute to positive workplace relations. The session provided practical insights into grievance handling, emphasising the importance of active listening, impartiality, confidentiality, thorough investigations, and proper documentation to ensure fair and timely resolution of workplace concerns.
Participants also explored the critical roles and responsibilities of shop stewards, including resolving disputes, supporting members, promoting compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), disseminating workplace policies, and fostering harmonious relationships between employees and management. The training highlighted the rights of shop stewards, the Skills they require to perform their duties effectively, and the essential qualities of successful workplace representatives, such as integrity, assertiveness, diplomacy, compassion, and strong communication skills
The session concluded by encouraging shop stewards to apply the knowledge gained in their respective workplaces, reinforcing their role in promoting fair labour practices, protecting employees' rights, and strengthening social dialogue for productive and harmonious industrial relations.
