DONE AND DUSTED- FLOWER GROWERS CBA SIGNED

Employees of the implementing member companies in the Floriculture and Horticulture sector have a reason to celebrate after the 2023-2025 Horticulture, Floriculture and Botanical (HFB) Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the Agricultural Employers’ Association (AEA) and Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers’ Union (KPAWU) was signed.

The momentous event took place in two meetings; one held in Nakuru between the negotiating teams and another in Nairobi COTU offices by the two Principals; Mr. Wesley Siele and Dr. Francis Atwoli. It was during the Nairobi meeting that the Ranchers and Conservancies CBA was also signed by Dr. Atwoli.

The path to this point was long and sometimes rocky but with the leadership of the Spokespersons from both sides; Mr. Tom Ochieng and Mr. Thomas Kipkemboi a document that met all the needs of both sides was arrived at.

Speaking during the signing event, Mr. Ochieng indicated that with the changing economic landscape from the new taxes to markets that are influencing business management and logistics, the CBA will be instrumental in ensuring industrial peace, where the management depends on the efficiency of its employees, and workers contribute to the overall sustainability and livability of their respective companies.

The signed document will be effective for the next 2 years beginning 1st August 2023 though either side desiring to amend can do so by declaring its intention by giving the other Two (2) months’ notice.
