ASSOCIATION ENGAGES ANOTHER GROUP OF APPRENTICES FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY-JUNE 2023

After successful placement of all the 5 graduate interns engaged in the 2022 phase, the Association took in yet another group of fresh university graduates to train. The recruitment process  that promoted meritocracy, equity and diversity saw more than 50 graduates express interest in the programme. 

5 applicants in the HR and Legal Professions were picked to start the programme based on the NITA standards. The 5 were put on a 6 months contract and just like their predecessors they will vigorously be trained and exposed to practical aspect of their profession through visits to member farms across the country. Among the areas they will be trained on are;

  • Labour Laws
  • Interviewing skills
  • Facilitation skills
  • Sexual harassment
  • Management/Supervisory skills
  • ILO Convention
  •  The wages order
  • Grievance/Conflict handling procedures
  • Disciplinary Procedures
  • Accounting Reporting & Corporate Financial Management
  • Computation of employees final dues/Terminal dues 

After 6 months of intense training and exposure, the young graduates shall be ready for the market; ready to take up any tasks placed in their hands. We encourage members to be part of this drive by offering learning opportunities during their training whenever requested.

Meet and know the team; 

Koitumet Naikumi

Naikumi is a versatile professional with recent certification of Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management and graduated with a second-class upper division from Jomo Kenyatta University.

He is looking to put his HR skills into professional use and also looking forward to expanding his knowledge in ensuring Compliance in HR, proper and timely CBA negotiations and implementation, proper labour relations and ensuring the workplace is safe, healthy and acceptable to all employees.

Although he currently has no professional experience yet, he was attached at Maasai Mara University where under the guidance of his industrial supervisor, he received excellent feedback on how he was well organized, an excellent communicator and with the ability to learn and implement new processes at work. He hopes to gain experience and acquire skills to help advance in his field while also using his abilities in a way that benefit the company he will work for.
