A Flower Farm based in Timau is seeking to expand their operations and seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to join their team:
Vacancy: Senior Production Manager
Job Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing all flower production activities to ensure consistent supply of high-quality flowers while maintaining efficiency, cost control, worker safety and compliance with Kenyan labour, environmental, health and safety laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- In charge of the farm Production and Quality Control
- Supervising of all farm operations in the field (Growing, Spray, Pack House and Irrigation)
- Pest and Diseases Management/Control
- Spray Department controller
- Reporting any defect in roses to relevant departments (damages, pests, diseases)
- Keeping and updating Production and Relevant Farm operation records
- Liaising with pack house and green house departments regarding quality feedback of roses and taking necessary action
- Communicating and coordinating with the transport department to facilitate smooth movement of flowers from green house to the cold room
- Ensuring showering is done in the right manner and at the right time in all green houses
- Enforcing discipline within the Farm departments, handling of employees’ grievances, disputes and complains and reporting them to the office if not solved
- Recommending, Facilitating and Organizing for internal/departmental and external trainings of employees of the various departments depending on training needs
- Coordination of other land preparation activities like uprooting, beds making, and maintenance
Desired Qualifications, skills and experience;
The job holder must possess:
- A Diploma/Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or a related field
- Over 10 years experience in growing and management of Rose flowers on a dynamic farm environment
- At least 5+ years in a senior management or supervisory position.
- Exhibits strong leadership qualities, empowers team members, sets clear expectations, and holds individuals accountable.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills at all levels.
- Positive attitude and commitment to company objectives.
- Capable of collaborating effectively within a team, receptive to feedback and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
- Proficient in utilizing technology to improve productivity, with a willingness to embrace new tools and methodologies.
- Sound knowledge of Global GAP, KEPHIS & HCD requirements
