VACANCY- ASSISTANT COMPANY NURSE

Agricultural Employers Association commonly known as AEA was started in 1962 as an Association representing the collective interests of Employers in the Agricultural industry in matters connected with Employment of Labour. The AEA is an affiliate member of FKE, KEPSA, KAM and ASNET.

 Our client in the Floriculture sector based in Timau seeks to fill the following vacancy that has arisen in their company: 

VACANCY: ASSISTANT COMPANY NURSE

The successful candidate will report to the Farm Nurse and also answerable to the Legal and Admin Officer and General Managers. The position will perform such duties and exercise such powers in relation to the business of the Farm as may from time to time be assigned by the Senior Management. 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acting as a point of referral for all medical cases on the Farm.
  • Assisting with the operation of a daily clinic for the farm and floriculture employees.
  • Assisting with referring cases to hospital/doctor as necessary.
  • Keeping stocks of medical supplies and medicines, monitoring usage, reordering as necessary and ensuring that no medication or consumables exceed their expiry dates.
  • Monitoring the Cost to Company on a monthly basis for the treatment of Employees and adhering to the most efficient treatment channel in line with direction from the GMs.
  • Responding to emergency call out as required.
  • Advising management with regard to medical regulations and training/education requirements as necessary.
  • Advising management on issues of health and safety, and employee welfare.
  • Ensure occupational first aid kits are in place, stocked and inspected.
  • Assisting with conducting health education to employees.
  • Arrange for occupational health checks for employees as required.
  • Uploading, updating and maintaining digitized Employee medical records, including existing history where this is still on paper notes and cards.
  • Ensuring that all records, histories and notes are kept in a manner required by the Data Protection Regulations.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE.

  • Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya and hold a valid practicing license.
  • At least 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience in a busy clinical or occupational health setting (experience in agricultural, horticultural, or industrial environment will be an added advantage).
  • Proven experience in handling medical supplies and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and ability to manage digitized medical records.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
