AEA 2023 CSR HIKE
In a bid to create awareness on abandoned and orphaned kids and promote a safe, healthy and loving haven for children, the Association in partnership with its members, friends, families and well wishers took to Mt. Kilimambogo on a hike in its 2023 CSR. The hike was dedicated to the House of Mercy Children’s Home and was also meant to raise funds for the children.
House of Mercy Children’s Home was started in 2000 in Githurai 45, Nairobi after an act of feeding some street children as well as teaching them the word of God that led to an establishment of a relationship. Among the many fed, few children decided not to go back to the street and House of Mercy children’s home was born.
The Home today exits to rescue and offer care and protection to children by providing, shelter, food, clothing and personal necessities, health, education, recreation, family reunification and religious observance. The home provides a safe, healthy and loving haven for over sixty five children, who have either been orphaned, destitute, HIV/AIDs, abandoned, abused (physical assault/ defilement) and those with physical disabilities.
More than 40 participants present including children of the Home, some as young as 9 years took the bull by its horns knowing the cause it was meant for by each covering a substantial distance and majority going all the way to the summit.
The Association wishes to thank all the companies represented in the hike and all those who joined at a personal level as it would not have been as successful without them. The funds will be applied to change lives of the children while the awareness created on orphaned and abandoned kids will see many come out and rescue children and support in whatever way possible including adoption.
