Agricultural Employers Association commonly known as AEA was started in 1962 and registered in 1966 under the Trade Union’s Act Cap 233 as an Association representing the collective interests of employers in the Agricultural industry in matters connected with Employment of Labour. It is affiliated to KEPSA, KAM and ASNET.
Our client seeks to fill the following vacancy that has arisen in their company:
Vacancy: HR & LEGAL OFFICER (ADMIN)
The successful candidate will be responsible for provision of sound Legal Management, Industrial Relations and shall contribute to the accomplishment of human resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards in the Company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with various departments, assisting line managers to understand and
implement policies and procedures - Interpreting and advising on Employment Laws
- Drafting and/or revising various documents of legal nature, ensuring in particular
that obligations stemming from legislation and regulations currently in force are
complied with - Preparing memorandum of presentation, pleadings and legal advise
- Tracking and timely updating the company on changes in law
- Reviewing the company’s HR Policies and procedures ensuring that they meet the statutory requirements
- Drafting and preparation of employee contracts, and other documents as may be required to ensure compliance with relevant laws.
- Advising and representing the company in labour related disputes and cases.
- Custody and maintaining of staff personnel files and all other statutory staff records.
- Supporting the company in human resource management and organizational development
- Planning and delivering training - including inductions for new staff
- Preparing staff handbooks
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors of Law degree and a Diploma in Human Resource Management
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Member of LSK and IHRM
- 3 years’ relevant experience
- Good understanding of employment laws, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of ADR principles and methods
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality
- Strong analytical and planning skills
- Computer literate
