VACANCY: HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

Agricultural Employers Association commonly known as AEA was started in 1962 and registered in 1966 as an Association representing the collective interests of Employers in the Agricultural industry in matters connected with Employment of Labour. The AEA is an affiliate member of KEPSA, FKE, KAM and ASNET.

 

A flower farm based in Naivasha seeks to fill the following vacancy that has arisen in their company:

VACANCY: HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

The successful candidate will laterally interact with all HR Staff, all Line Managers, Supervisory staff, and fellow employees in the organisation as well as Workers’ representatives, Labour Office(r), AEA and other relevant bodies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, developing and implementing sound personnel policies and practices in line with the labour laws of Kenya
  • Prepare dashboard per month on absenteeism, sick offs, accidents etc.
  • Prepare annual leave plans for all employees on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure cordial relationship between Union and staff
  • Timely and professional resolution of conflicts.
  • Ensure the OSHA register is up to date
  • Overseeing staff welfare, health, safety and counselling.
  • Ensure workplace committee meetings are documented and held without interfering with farm operations
  • Elect and set up Health and Safety meetings as per statutory requirements
  • Advise company on all aspects of Health & Safety.
  • Coordinate and manage first aid and fire safety representatives.
  • Plan for trainings at the correct time without jeopardizing farm operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs effectiveness, periodically and report on them.
  • Draw an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations.
  • Developing and maintaining an up-to-date personnel database (attendance, gather and record payroll data like leaves and working hours).
  • Liaising with heads of departments on HR issues and ensuring they are informed on HR objectives, needs and expectations.
  • Liaise with the Finance & Admin Manager on personnel functions (including manpower planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, grievance handling, staff discipline.

 

Desired Qualifications, skills and experience;

The job holder must possess:

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management.
  • Experience of at least 2 years relevant experience in a busy HR Department
  • Registered with IHRM
  • CHRP(K)- Ongoing student or Finalist

Common Competencies:

  • Advanced MS excel skill
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective communicator both up and down the ladder.
  • Must be pro-active and demonstrate ability to work with minimum supervision and meet set targets.
  • Good leadership skills
  • Team player
