Agricultural Employers Association commonly known as AEA was started in 1962 and registered in 1966 as an Association representing the collective interests of Employers in the Agricultural industry in matters connected with Employment of Labour. The AEA is an affiliate member of FKE, KEPSA, KAM and ASNET.
Our client in Kericho seeks to fill the following vacancy that has arisen in their company:
Vacancy: FIELD SUPERVISOR-AVOCADO
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supervise and plan the establishment of new Avocado fields of 60ha from land preparation and planting.
- Inspect Avocado fields, to determine conditions and need for cultivating, spraying, weeding, or harvesting.
- Ensure that all the IPM programs are in place, from monitoring, identification, control and evaluation of pest and diseases.
- Assign duties, such as crop maintenance ,weeding irrigation, or harvesting and other field operations.
- Observe workers to detect inefficient or unsafe work procedures or to identify problems, initiating corrective action as necessary.
- Review work to evaluate quality and quantity needs.
- Plan, supervise and train workers on crop production programs such as planting, fertilizing, pest and disease control or general plant management.
- Prepare reports regarding farm conditions, crop yields, or labor plans.
- Keep track of crop protection products, fertilizer and farm tools and reporting to unit manager for order.
- Issue farm inputs, equipment, farm tools and collecting them after the task is complete
- Report grievances and disputes among company employees to the unit manager.
- Assist the management in developing plans or procedures pertaining crop production techniques, protection and nutritional needs
or cultivating techniques.
Desired Qualifications, skills and experience;
- Degree/Diploma in general agriculture, horticulture, or any other relevant agricultural course
- Minimum 2 years’ experience
- Knowledge of certification standards such as Global gap, smeta , Ks1758,RA and others.
